These are 5 signs you are drinking less water

July 17, 2022 by sportslyo

Consumption of sufficient water is needed to maintain an ideal body weight to remove toxins from the body. Water also contributes to regular bowel function, optimal muscle performance, and clear, youthful-looking skin. However, not drinking enough water can lead to unwanted health problems. Here are some signs that show you are not drinking enough water.

Table of Contents

  • Constant bad breath
  • Fatigue
  • Sick often
  • Constipation
  • Poor skin health

Constant bad breath

Water is essential for saliva production and helps wash away bacteria so you can keep your teeth and gums healthy. Lack of water can inhibit the production of saliva and cause bacteria to build up on the tongue, teeth and gums, causing bad breath.

If you’ve been maintaining good oral hygiene, but continue to suffer from bad breath, you may not be drinking enough water. Make an appointment with your doctor if bad breath persists. Do this step after increasing your water intake to rule out other underlying causes such as gum disease, type 2 diabetes, and liver or kidney problems.

Fatigue

According to the Healthcare Association of Texas , not drinking enough water can lead to overall fluid loss in the body. This fluid loss can cause a decrease in blood volume which puts excess pressure on the heart to deliver oxygen and nutrients to organs, including muscles.

Lack of water can cause you to experience fatigue and low energy as your body tries to function without enough water. If you continue to feel sluggish and tired despite getting a good night’s sleep, you may need to increase your water intake.

Sick often

Water helps flush toxins, waste, and bacteria from the body to fight disease and infection and strengthen your immune system. If it seems like you’re always sick, you may need to start drinking more water. Drinking enough water can keep your body free of toxins and functioning at optimal levels. Since lack of water also causes fatigue, you may tend to be less physically active, leading to other risk factors such as a weakened immune system.

Constipation

A well-watered body promotes proper digestion and regular bowel movements by keeping stool soft and moving it easily through the digestive tract. Not drinking enough water can cause the body to draw water from the stool to compensate for fluid loss. This causes the stool to be harder and therefore more difficult to pass. If your bowel movements are irregular and infrequent, try drinking more water to relieve constipation and bloating.

Poor skin health

If you feel your skin is dry, flaky, fine lines appear, and your skin feels loose, it could be because you’re not drinking enough water. Lack of water can cause the skin to lose its elasticity and elasticity. You need water to moisturize and tighten skin cells so that it makes skin look brighter , radiant, and youthful.

Consuming enough water even helps reduce acne and other skin problems by flushing out harmful toxins from the body. If beauty and skincare products fail to improve the appearance of your skin, drink more water to achieve a more youthful appearance and reduce or improve skin problems.
