Know These 3 Things Before Buying Fishing Equipment

July 15, 2022 by sportslyo

There are several hobbies that use special tools, one of which is fishing. This fishing rod is not only an essential when fishing, but without it we will not be able to fish. Then, are all fishing rods the same? Yes, the matter of function is of course the same, but the matter of quality certainly varies. A quality fishing rod does not guarantee you always get big fish, but a quality fishing rod guarantees the quality of its strength that can help you expedite the fishing process.

The fishing equipment industry is currently growing rapidly. Many start-up producers appear every season. This is good news for fishing hobbyists because the number of fishing shops makes the prices of fishing rods varied enough so it is not so difficult to find a price that suits your pocket. On the other hand, the bad news is that the large selection of fishing rods can be confusing to try and decide which one is better for you to buy.

Therefore, it is important to understand exactly what differs from one fishing rod to another, so that you can choose the one that is best for you. Here are 3 things you should understand well before buying a fishing rod:

Length

This one is the most important and obvious, length is the distance of the fishing rod from end to end. The length of the fishing rod affects the throwing distance, accuracy, and hook set leverage. Longer fishing rods (over 7 feet) will be thrown farther than shorter fishing rods with the same power and action, and shorter fishing rods (under 7 feet) will be more accurate. Longer fishing rods also give you more force on the hooks, because they take more lane when swinging.

Power

Often confused with the sensitivity and strength of a fishing rod (measured from ultralight to extra heavy) the ease with which it is measured by its strength, or how much weight will cause it to bend. Using too light power, the power will be mismatched with accuracy and distance, while too heavy power will cause backlash and decrease efficiency. The power rating is what translates to the line and weight rating weights often found on the side of the fishing line.

Throwing action

While this is the most overlooked on fishing rods, the throwing action (measured from slow to extra fast), is very important to the overall performance of the fishing line. The action describes where the length of the fishing rod will bend. The slower throwing action will curve toward the back end of the rod, and the faster action will slide toward the end. The faster the throwing action, the more sensitive the fishing rod will be, and the slower the action, vice versa.

So actually it’s not only fishing rods that have many roles when fishing, but also your action / ability to use the fishing rod itself is different so you have to find a fishing rod that suits you, not only the most quality fishing gear but for no reason.
