Running sport wearing a jacket is risky to health

When you run, your heart rate will increase because your heart supplies oxygen-rich blood to the muscles that are moving. This condition ultimately makes the body temperature increase, so the body tends to sweat.

When you use a jacket while running , the process of evaporation of sweat that the body releases becomes hampered. In fact, the process of evaporation of sweat is very important when someone is doing physical activities or sports, such as running . This process also helps cool your body temperature, which will heat up during exercise.

Therefore, if you wear a jacket while running, this will actually worsen the condition of the body. Especially when the body temperature is high and coincides with the hot weather environment during exercise, which can even be fatal to your health.

What are the dangers of running with a jacket on?

In certain situations, you might force yourself to run with a jacket, especially during the day when the weather is very hot. This you may do to sweat more , so that exercise becomes more effective. In fact, this will make you more at risk of experiencing conditions such as the following.

1. Cramps due to heat

These muscle spasms occur because the body loses large amounts of fluids and electrolytes as a result of excessive sweating. Usually a person will experience heat cramps when doing strenuous physical activity and in hot weather conditions.

2. Severe dehydration

We’re all familiar with dehydration , but if you force a run with a jacket on, it’s sure to trigger the body to lose more fluids. The most common symptoms when a person is severely dehydrated include dizziness, fatigue, and even mental disorientation such as confusion.

3. Heat exhaust

Heat exhaustion occurs when someone ignores the symptoms of heat cramps, so that the body that is exposed to heat for hours loses a lot of fluids due to excessive sweating. If you experience this condition, generally symptoms will occur in the form of body fatigue, dizziness, weakness, low blood pressure, and even fainting.

4. Heat stroke

Heat stroke is a condition that occurs due to exposure to heat for a very long time, in which a person cannot sweat enough to lower his body temperature. If not treated immediately, heat stroke can cause permanent damage, even death.

A person who has had a heat stroke will show symptoms, such as dizzy eyes, pale face, cold hands, and unconsciousness. In addition, the blood will also thicken when the body lacks fluids, so that blood flow throughout the body becomes disrupted, including to the heart to the brain.

To be safe, what should be prepared before running?

In addition, so that this cardio exercise is safe for you to do, there are some safe tips before running, such as the following.

  • Use comfortable sports clothes , for example, don’t wear thick clothes. Better to use clothes that are thin and do not absorb sweat. In essence, wear clothes that facilitate the evaporation of sweat while running.
  • Do not run in broad daylight, you should run in the morning when the air is still in low temperatures. In addition, the morning air is still fresh so that it makes you more excited when exercising.
  • It is very important for you to pay attention to fluid intake when exercising. Therefore, don’t forget to drink water or sports isotonic drinks to avoid dehydration while running.
  • Use special running shoes, because using shoes according to their function will help avoid injury. Running shoes have a lighter weight, making it easier for the wearer to move freely.

Even though running with a jacket has dangerous risks, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t wear a jacket at all while running. You may want to wear a jacket made of synthetic material, such as a parachute jacket, when exercising in the rainy season . This special running jacket can help you withstand rain and wind.

Choose a jacket that has air vents and reflective parts for your safety while running. Avoid running in clothes that absorb water and sweat, as this can make your body temperature drop faster during the rainy season.
